Miyazaki Jingu Shrine

Miyazaki Jingu is a historic shrine located in the center of Miyazaki Prefecture.

The shrine dates back to the time of Emperor Suiko, and two deities, including Emperor Jinmu, are worshipped here.

The shrine pavilions made entirely of cedar wood are rare in Japan. The main shrine and 11 other buildings are registered as Tangible Cultural Properties of Japan.

The Jinmu Grand Festival held every fall attracts many spectators to the parade of about 100 people, and in late April, the Oshirafuji, a national natural treasure, comes into bloom.
